Care of leather products

Italian cowhide can withstand decades of intensive use - if you care for it properly. It's not complicated, but it does require regularity.

Routine cleaning

After each use, wipe the surface with a dry soft cloth. Remove dust, sweat, any other marks. Leather absorbs moisture and oils from the skin - this is normal, but if you let it settle, it can degrade the material over time.
If you need a more thorough cleaning, use a cloth dampened in slightly warm water with saddle soap. Wipe gently, do not introduce too much water into the skin. After wiping, allow to dry naturally at room temperature - never in direct sunlight or near a heater. Rapid drying causes cracking.

Conditioning

The skin needs regular nourishment to stay supple and resilient. Once every 2-3 months (more often with heavy use), apply a special conditioner or oil to the skin. Apply a thin layer with a cloth, leave to absorb for 15-20 minutes, wipe off excess oil. The skin should be saturated, not shiny from excess.
Recommended products: saddle soap, beeswax, mink oil, special conditioners for cowhide. Avoid products with mineral oils or silicone - these create a surface layer that prevents the leather from breathing.

Storage

Store in a dry, ventilated area at room temperature. Never in plastic bags or leak-proof packaging - the skin needs air circulation, otherwise there is a risk of mould. Store long strips (harnesses) ideally hanging or rolled loosely, not bent at sharp angles.
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures or high humidity. Leather is a natural material - it reacts to its environment.

Protection from water

Our products are not waterproof. If they get wet, dry them as soon as possible with a soft cloth and let them dry naturally. Once dry, apply conditioner - water washes the natural oils from the skin.
There are impregnating balms for the skin that provide some protection. If you use them, always test on an unseen area first - some may change colour or texture.

Disinfection of BDSM tools

Spanking pads and other contact products require regular disinfection, especially if you use them with multiple partners or in intense sessions. The disinfection must be effective but gentle on the skin.

Suitable disinfectants

Isopropyl alcohol 70%: Reliable against bacteria and viruses. Use diluted - pure alcohol dries the skin faster. Always condition after application.

Antibacterial wipes: a quick solution for on-site disinfection. Choose without strong fragrances or harsh chemicals (chlorine, ammonia). Read the ingredients.

Saddle soap: Gentle soap solution cleans and has mild antibacterial effects. The gentlest option for routine hygiene.

Disinfection procedure

1. Pre-cleaning: remove dust, sweat, visible dirt with a dry cloth 2. Application. 3. Wiping. 4. Drying: Allow to air dry naturally (5-10 minutes) 5. Conditioning.

Frequency

- After each use with different partners - At least once a week with regular use with one partner - Always after contact with body fluids - Before long-term storage

What not to do

Do not use bleach, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide or other aggressive chemicals. Do not immerse the skin in water or disinfectant solutions. Do not expose to UV lamps - the leather will fade and dry out.

Note on safety

Disinfection reduces the risk of pathogen transmission, but no procedure is 100% guarantee. For activities with a high risk of blood contact, we recommend using barrier protective equipment or having dedicated instruments for each partner.
